REA Rep Council Meeting Dates
The first meeting of the 2009-2010 REA Building Rep Council will be held at the Wyndham Hotel on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 4pm.
Beginning in October, REA Rep Council will meet at 4:00 pm on the first Thursday of the first full week of every month at the Vo-Tech, unless otherwise noted:
- REA Executive Council will meet the Monday prior to Rep Council meetings
(Please bring your contract to all Rep Council meetings! Thank you!)

Eastern Lebanon County EA exercises practical compassion | |
Occasionally there is a story about an individual in which life appears to come full circle. The kind of story where a person overcomes childhood poverty, earns a college education, and then returns to her birthplace to help in a time of need. Sandrine Macena Longenecker, a young woman adopted from Haiti and raised in Lebanon County, has that kind of story. In 1990 Sandrine Macena was six years old, the youngest of 10 siblings living in desperate poverty in Haiti. Her father had died and her mother could not care for her.

Chambersburg teacher provides her students with a 'sweet' history lesson | |
In this day and age of high-stakes testing, when educators are less and less able to follow a teachable moment down whichever road it leads, it is the rare teacher who finds the luxury of time for a very special project. This fall, however, one of those special moments occurred, and thanks to Deborah Culbertson, a third-grade teacher at the South Hamilton Elementary School in Chambersburg, her students gained a new understanding of our history – both past and present.

Landmark settlement is 'just another step' for Dallastown Area EA | |
On September 17, 2009, Dallastown EA, Southern Region, settled a landmark contract. They became the first local association in Southern Region to achieve a $50,000 starting salary. And they did it as part of their fourth consecutive early bird settlement.

Reading community gathers Together In Support Of Our Exceptional Children | |
On October 31, the Reading Education Association Community Committee and several partnering organizations held a seminar titled “Together In Support Of Our Exceptional Children” at the Hopewell Mennonite Church in Reading, PA. More than 75 educators, parents, administrators and community partners attended the event.
